Why before how
Venn grew out of Velocite, founded in 2008 by Victor Major. Victor is an applied scientist, with a degree in science and an MBA, and that is what makes Venn different.
That habit gave the bicycle industry its first filament wound rims, a rim profile designed by an algorithm, and a deep rim that doesn’t steer the bike in a crosswind.

Velocite founded in Kaohsiung
Carbon frames and components. Teams on four continents went on to race Velocite.

Recognised early
A Taiwan National Entrepreneurship Award, then the iF Design and Taipei Cycle d&i award for the Helios Aero frame.

The first filament wound rims
The Venn Rev 35 wins a Eurobike Award, a Taipei Cycle d&i award and a Golden Pin Design Award in its launch year.

Recognised in Belgium
The first Flanders Bike Valley Start-up Innovation Award, for Venn filament wound rims.

A rim designed by an algorithm
The Venn Var 77, with National Cheng Kung University: a genetic algorithm driving a CFD solver generated 675 profiles with the shape left free, concave and bulbous ones included, and 3D simulation of whole wheels chose the winner. A first. Victor also gave guest lectures at NCKU.

Thermoplastics
R&D on thermoplastic carbon rims in Belgium, and a talk at JEC Asia in Seoul on scaling volume and recyclable structures.

Venn Var 507
Laminate optimised in Abaqus finite element analysis. Aerodynamic centre just behind the axle: effectively zero lift in all conditions.

1k filament winding
The fifth generation of the process Venn started, with moulded spoke holes and T1100 fibre in the newest rims.
